The Denison region helped pool money to the sum of $500 to donate to local special education teacher Jay Petersen for his therapy dog which he uses for various reasons in the classroom. Violet the therapy dog is new to Denison High School this year. Jay has paid 100% of the costs of the dog out of pocket, including buying the dog, insurance, training, etc. He also takes the dog to local nursing homes.
